Bic Benedict is a 5 piece band from Brisbane. The sound has been best described as a blend of power pop, combined with rootsy rock. The songs focus on instant appeal through catchy choruses, layered but not overplayed guitar hooks and energetic, melodic vocals accompanied with lush backing harmonies. The Songwriting is of the highest quality as it’s not only diverse in sound but attracts a wide audience from young to old. The CD has no time for fillers featuring 5 quality songs that have been mixed by international producer/engineer Anthony Lycenko (David Bowie, Pete Murray, Grinspoon). Opening track and crowd favourite ‘Barry D’ sets the tone for what is an exceptional debut EP. Bic Benedict is the brain-infant of Brisbane songwriter Daniel Vistar. Daniel fronts the band, responsible for guitar and vocals. Bass player Ferg, Lee Griffin (Guitar and Vocals), Richie Nowell (Guitar) and Greg Conder (Drums) all perform as the backing band for Bic Benedict. Each member brings their own contribution to the songs, resulting in a rather unique sound from what is a traditional guitar band lineup. Daniel Vistar’s background is distinguished and respectable amongst indie artists from Brisbane. Having run a small recording studio for many years working with artists such as Custard, Andrew G and Speedstar to name but a few. Having cut his teeth along side many accomplished songwriters, Daniel’s talents have blossomed in Bic Benedict. With support from fellow songwriter Ferg and the unique styling of Lee Griffin and Richie Nowell, and not to forget the inspirational lyrics on ‘Steady Hands’ and ‘Burn It Down’ from Daniel’s partner, Leah Shanahan, this band is quickly earning respect from its peers.
