The Panasonic HDC-SD20, announced at CES 2009, is a new high definition camcorder. The SD20 features touch-screen controls which allows the user to operate the camcorder by tapping through icon based menus. Offering simple controls along with high definition video, the HDC-SD20 records 1920 x 1080 HD video to an SDHC/SD Memory Card. The SD20 does not have an internal HDD like the other camcorders from Panasonic announced at CES 2009, and it is much more compact and lighter as a result of this. The LCD screen on the SD20 automatically adjusts its brightness according to the light present while shooting (brighter than normal in high-light conditions and dimmer in dark places). Available in black, silver, and red, The SD20 features a 1.9 seconds power up, 5-microphone system for recording sound to be faithfully reproduced by a 5.1-channel surround sound system, 16x optical zoom, and auto focus tracking.
